Michael Kender is a Professor of Finance at Virginia, covering classes such as Investment Banking/Venture Capital and Survey’s to Finance. Prior to teaching at Virginia Tech, Michael was a Managing Director at Citibank from 1992 - 2008. Throughout his time at Citibank, Michael worked as Head of the Loan Analysis and Strategy group and the Head of U.S. High Yield Debt Research. Before his time at Citibank, Michael worked at TM Capital Corp as a Vice President, and Thomson McKinnon Securities as an Associate.

Michael received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business.
